Greg Roth + Czars of Leisure

Czars of Leisure is the recording project name for Greg Roth, a singer/songwriter of “thrift store rock”, selling the secondhand stylings of 70s power pop, 80s new wave, 90s college/slacker alternative, and 00s indie/garage rock. A former rock journalist, his treats his setlists like mixtapes, weaving together covers and originals to cultivate the right vibe for the venue and audience.

He has released two albums of original music, a soundtrack, a holiday single (2025), and performed in 25 states and 6 countries, including the State Theater, DC9, Rock and Roll Hotel, Hard Rock Cafe, and others. As a solo performer, he plays either acoustic or electric guitar with a loop pedal to create a one-man band sound.

He is the co-creator and host of The What-Have-You series, a mix of full band open mic and Jon Brion at Largo, and performs solo acoustic with a loop station, or with his band Czars of Leisure. 

In December 2025, he released the holiday single “Online Xmas / “All the Other Holidays”. The next full Czars of Leisure album is due in early 2026.
